Lead Mainframe CICS SRE

Roles and Responsibilities - Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of mainframe solutions aligned with business objectives and technology strategy.
- Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance to mainframe development, infrastructure, operations, and modernization teams.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, application teams, and infrastructure teams to define requirements and deliver scalable, secure, and cost-effective solutions.
- Establish and govern mainframe workload intake, onboarding, and change processes for new applications and services.
- Analyze and optimize CICS, IBM MQ, and z/OS Connect services to improve performance, reliability, and resource utilization.
- Review telemetry data, system traces, and performance metrics to identify bottlenecks and resolve service availability issues.
- Troubleshoot complex CICS and MQ incidents and support release, change, incident, and problem-management activities.
- Develop and maintain architecture standards, technical roadmaps, solution blueprints, and governance frameworks.
- Drive mainframe modernization initiatives, including integration with cloud platforms, distributed systems, and containerized environments.
- Promote DevOps, automation, and infrastructure-as-code practices to improve deployment efficiency and operational consistency.
- Ensure mainframe solutions meet enterprise security, availability, scalability, and compliance requirements.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend architectural improvements to enhance system performance, maintainability, and cost efficiency.
Key Technical Skills and Qualifications
- Strong expertise in IBM z/OS, COBOL, CICS, IBM MQ, and z/OS Connect.
- Experience with CICS, MQ, and z/OS Connect performance tuning, telemetry, and trace analysis.
- Knowledge of mainframe modernization, application integration, and migration strategies.
- Experience with mainframe workload intake, change management, release management, incident management, and problem management.
- Familiarity with cloud integration, Linux on IBM Z (zLinux), OpenShift, and hybrid architecture.
- Experience with DevOps practices and automation using Red Hat Ansible for IBM Z, Ansible, and Python.
- Strong understanding of high availability, security, scalability, resilience, and enterprise architecture principles.
- Excellent technical leadership, stakeholder management, problem-solving, and communication skills.
