Position Overview A Distribution Center Supervisor oversees the efficient operation of their functional area within the warehouse, including the processing of incoming merchandise or freight and related documentation to ensure merchandise is ready for distribution to the stores. Responsibilities Develop and support a team-oriented environment and maintain an orderly, neatly maintained area. Ensure department-level compliance with key company standards of safety and facility maintenance. Direct the work of the team to meet the daily needs of the business. Proactively establish and carry out shrinkage control disciplines and programs. Effectively communicate with other Supervisors and Managers in the Distribution Center to coordinate other warehouse activities. Complete all internal reporting processes timely and accurately. Interview, select, train, coach, counsel, and discipline associates, including progressive discipline up to and including termination when appropriate. Accurately maintain associates’ hours in the time‑keeping system (Kronos). Perform additional responsibilities as business needs arise. Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent required. Higher education, including two‑ and four‑year degrees related to business management, preferred. One to two years’ experience in a supervisory role in a mid‑size to large distribution center or a proven internal development program selection. Ability to effectively manage in a professional work environment. Ability to maintain confidential information. Sound judgment and efficiency in planning, prioritization, and implementation of detailed instructions. Strong interpersonal and listening skills. Basic Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, required. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays (until work is done). Physical Requirements Frequent use of ladders and stairs. Capacity to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, twist, squat, kneel, and balance occasionally. Ability to grip, reach, and pinch with arms and hands frequently. Adequate vision, hearing, and speech. Physical ability to move and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures.
