Hazmat Technician

Safety Hazmat TechnicianR+L Carriers has an immediate opening for a Safety Hazmat Technician in our Elgin, IL service center office. Reporting to the Director of Safety, the Hazmat Technician is responsible for the performance of tasks associated with emergency response, hazardous and non-hazardous materials clean-up, site-remediation, equipment decontamination, handling of hazardous materials, and other duties as required.Requirements:40 Hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification requiredBased on OSHA and industry health standards, wear proper personal protective equipment when requiredWork effectively and communicate with team members and other departmentsInform the management team of issues that arise on jobs in a timely mannerUpdate job notes dailyPhysically fit; able to lift 75 lbs.Able to thrive in a high-pressure and fast-paced team-supported environmentLead safety in all aspects of emergency response, including following R+L procedures, properly containerizing waste/re-use products, and completing safety documentation, and upholding R+L's high level of safetyExperience operating tools applicable to emergency response activitiesSet up and participate in live training events to ensure the competency of personnelAudit incoming/outgoing hazardous materials shipments for complianceAbility and willingness to coach co-workers on unsafe behaviors observedWilling to participate in specialized scheduled projects as requiredCompetent in Microsoft Office applications such as, but not limited to, Excel, Word, and OutlookExceptional interpersonal skills, customer service, and problem-solving skillsProven ability to work in a confidential capacityAbility to handle multiple tasks, while being detail orientedBenefits: R+L Carriers offers an excellent compensation and comprehensive benefits package that includes Medical/Dental/Vision Insurance, 401(k) Retirement Plan with company matching contributions, Paid Vacation & Holidays, and vacation lodging at our exclusive employee resorts in Daytona Beach, FL, Big Bear Lake, CA, Pigeon Forge, TN, and Ocean Isle Beach, NC.ABOUT US: R+L Carriers is a family owned, privately held transportation company founded in 1965.
