SALARY: Salary starts at $111,728 and may be higher depending on qualifications and experience. Job Summary The Rockwall County Criminal District Attorney's Office seeks an experienced attorney capable of prosecuting felony family violence cases and serving as Chief Prosecutor in its Family Violence Division. Job Description The Chief Prosecutor of the Family Violence Division leads the prosecution of misdemeanor and felony offenses involving family violence, intimate partner violence, stalking, sexual assault, homicide, and related offenses. This position requires extensive interaction with victims and witnesses who have experienced trauma, abuse, and assault, as well as frequent exposure to sensitive and graphic evidence. The Chief Prosecutor is expected to exercise professionalism, compassion, sound judgment, and trauma‑informed practices while pursuing justice and ensuring community safety. Duties & Key Responsibilities Prosecute complex family violence, sexual assault, stalking, and related criminal cases from intake through trial and appeal. Work closely with victims of assault, domestic violence, and other traumatic crimes while maintaining a victim‑centered and trauma‑informed approach. Conduct sensitive interviews with victims and witnesses who may be experiencing emotional distress, trauma, fear, or safety concerns. Collaborate with law enforcement agencies, victim assistance coordinators, medical personnel, forensic interviewers, advocacy organizations, and community partners. Provide leadership, supervision, training, and mentorship to prosecutors and staff within the Family Violence Division. Evaluate evidence, prepare legal documents, negotiate plea agreements, and conduct jury and bench trials. Ensure compliance with applicable victims' rights laws, ethical obligations, office policies, and prosecutorial standards. Provide training to investigators, agencies, and community groups on family violence investigation and prosecution. Qualifications Member in good standing with the State Bar of Texas. Experience prosecuting family violence, sexual assault, or other violent crimes. Training or experience in trauma‑informed interviewing and victim‑centered prosecution practices. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with victims of assault and vulnerable populations. Demonstrated ability to maintain professionalism, composure, confidentiality, and sound decision‑making in emotionally challenging situations. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with diverse populations is essential.
