Physical Damage Field Appraiser

Job Overview Auto-Owners Insurance, a top-rated carrier, is seeking an experienced and motivated Claims professional to join our team. The position involves inspecting damaged automobiles, assessing repair costs, negotiating repair cost agreements, and evaluating practicality of repairs and settlement options. The candidate will maintain an understanding of automobile construction and repair techniques, assure compliance with statutory requirements, communicate with claim associates, agents, and insured repair facilities, and may attend arbitrations, mediations, depositions, or trials. Responsibilities Inspect damaged automobiles and develop information regarding repair costs. Negotiate repair cost agreements and evaluate practicality of repair and options for settlement. Maintain knowledge of current automobile construction and repair techniques and assure compliance with statutory requirements. Communicate with claim associates, agents, insured repair facilities, and vehicle owners regarding inspections and conclusions, and participate in negotiations and problem resolution. Attend arbitrations, mediations, depositions, or trials as necessary. Handle investigations by phone, mail, and on-site investigations. Travel as needed and be temporarily reassigned for catastrophe duty upon request. Desired Skills & Experience Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. A minimum of 3 years working as a physical damage appraiser. Knowledge of CCC One software is preferred but not required. Above‑average written and verbal communication skills. Ability to resolve complex issues. Organize and interpret data.Handle multiple assignments simultaneously. Possession of a valid driver’s license. Benefits Competitive base salary. Matched 401(k).
