IT Technician

The Summer IT Technician provides front-line technical support and customer service to staff across the organization. This role is responsible for learning about the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of a broad range of IT systems including Video Teleconferencing (VTC) equipment, telephony systems, printing infrastructure, Google Workspace, and Audio/Visual (AVL) systems. The ideal candidate brings both technical competency and a servant-leadership mindset rooted in the organization’s mission and values. This position reports to the Help Desk Lead. Position Responsibilities IT support services are delivered reliably, promptly, and professionally to all staff. This will be successfully performed when: All support requests are acknowledged, tracked, and resolved within established response time expectations. Technical issues with workstations, printers, phones, and peripherals are diagnosed and resolved with minimal disruption to staff. Recurring issues are documented and communicated to IT Infrastructure Lead with recommended solutions. Staff report high satisfaction with the quality and responsiveness of IT support. A current and accurate IT asset inventory is maintained at all times. Relative Importance: 35% Video Teleconferencing (VTC) and Audio/Visual (AVL) systems are fully operational and staff are equipped to use them effectively. This will be successfully performed when: VTC and AVL equipment is configured, tested, and ready prior to all scheduled meetings and events. Staff receive timely support and training for VTC and AVL tools, including Zoom, Teams, and conference room systems. System faults are identified proactively and resolved before impacting scheduled sessions. New VTC or AVL deployments are coordinated and completed on schedule with minimal disruption. Relative Importance: 20% Google Workspace is administered effectively and staff are supported in its use across the organization. This will be successfully performed when: User accounts, groups, and permissions are provisioned and maintained accurately and in a timely manner. Security policies, two-factor authentication, and access controls are implemented and enforced consistently. Staff receive training and documentation that enables them to use Google Workspace tools confidently. Administrative tasks such as account changes and shared drive management are completed within one business day of request. Relative Importance: 20% IT projects and infrastructure initiatives are coordinated and delivered effectively in collaboration with the broader team. This will be successfully performed when: Assigned project tasks are completed on schedule and communicated clearly to the IT Manager and relevant stakeholders. Equipment rollouts, system upgrades, and office technology changes are planned and executed with minimal disruption. Vendors and internal departments are coordinated proactively to meet project goals. IT component evaluation and procurement recommendations are well-researched and submitted in a timely manner. Relative Importance: 15% General Staff Functions This will be successfully performed when: IT team processes, workflows, and procedures are followed consistently, and all reports are submitted in an excellent and timely manner. Continual involvement in professional development activities is planned and occurring.
