Job Title: Captain, AI (Adult Institution) Location: California State Prison – Los Angeles County, Lancaster, CA (Antelope Valley) Job Code: JC-522123 Position Number: 027-261-9646-XXX Salary: $12,539.00 – $14,350.00 (base pay; new candidates will be hired at the minimum salary of the classification) Job Type: 12‑Month Limited Term – Full Time (may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent) Work Shift: Varies Work Week: Varies Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025: Effective July 1, 2025, each full‑time employee will receive a 3 % reduction in pay in exchange for 5 hours of leave credits monthly through June 2027. Responsibilities Under the direction of the Correctional Administrator, DOC, the Captain, AI will plan, organize, and direct a program for the safe custody, discipline, care, and treatment of the incarcerated people housed within the program unit. Minimum Requirements Classification: CAPTAIN, ADULT INSTITUTION Desirable Qualifications Knowledge and experience of current CDCR HR practices. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Supervisory or leadership experience. Excellent interpersonal skills and sound judgement. Ability and willingness to delegate responsibilities while ensuring timeliness and quality products. Ability to work well and stay organized in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment. Positive attitude when working with all levels in the organization. Demonstrated reliability with a good attendance history and punctuality.
