We are a forward-thinking family law and property litigation firm that is on track for aggressive growth, and we need an experienced legal assistant to join our team and work directly with the owner, attorneys, and other staff members to support the team and help clients. We want to be known for helping clients come out of an extremely emotional process feeling as though they are a better person, in a better position, and that they had a team behind them that really cared and fought for them. We are growing fast, and we need a paralegal who can hit the ground running. We love to help people learn and grow, but we need a paralegal with experience in family law, civil litigation, and trial work who can dive right in. The ideal candidate will be able to take initiative on work that needs to be done and complete tasks with minimal hand-holding. This is a full-time job where you are expected to manage a caseload, so you absolutely must be able to work for 40 hours per week. There is an opportunity to work from home.During the first 90 days of employment, the pay will be $26.44/hour (equivalent to $55,000 per year), with opportunities for increase after that. There is an opportunity for bonus compensation for those who can demonstrate their profitability. Responsibilities Conduct and follow through the discovery process by: Drafting discovery requests and responses Drafting discovery correspondences Draft Motions and Pleadings Following up with Clients for discovery materials Following up with Clients for discovery needs Working with attorneys to ensure all of the information required for the success of the case is obtained Assist with the development of checklists and workflow systems Follow up with Legal Assistants to ensure Motions hearings are requested and calendared Prepare Motion and Trial Exhibits Prepare Motion and Trial Notebooks Maintain accurate billing Conduct filings, including electronic filing in State and Federal Courts Conduct legal research Ensure case documents are maintained in the electronic database and client files Regularly conferring with the Attorney and Legal Assistant to efficiently and effectively administer cases Qualifications If these statements appeal to you, then you may be our Paralegal: Robust Family Law experience You smile when you answer the phone You are an amazing document preparer with a sickening degree of attention to detail You are very good with calendars, e-mail, spreadsheets, word processing, MyCase, and the internet Your middle name is “No Drama” You are an awesome juggler of tasks and can change gears quickly You do not think scanning and copying are “beneath you” You are a problem solver and a solution seeker; and You care about making an impactful and positive difference in the lives of others Compensation $55,000 - $76,000 yearly About North Georgia Family Lawyers and Legal Defense LLC We’re not your typical law firm.
