Our team is composed of seasoned entrepreneurs, scientists, and operators, and we're backed by top-tier investors.Position Overview:MyOme is seeking an experienced and innovative bioinformatics scientist/biostatistician contractor to develop new diagnostic software. In this role, you will build on existing bioinformatics and statistical methods for identifying signals from limited material. This is a full-time contracting position for someone who seeks to combine their genomics knowledge with robust statistical techniques and implement their methods in streamlined bioinformatics workflows. This position will work across teams at MyOme and with our external partners.What You'll Do:Lead the development and implementation of statistical algorithms to garner genomic insights in novel diagnostic areas and implement them in production-ready pipelinesContribute to the build out of an analysis platform that incorporates quality control status, analysis, visualization and process dashboards for genomic dataWork with cross-functional teams to manage, process, analyze and interpret genomic dataHelp design and conduct clinical validation study plans and reportsWork with our Clinical Lab Director to make sure all algorithms comply with regulatory standardsWork and communicate regularly with external partners or collaborators on shared projectsContribute to intellectual property or publicationsWhat You'll Need:Master's degree (PhD preferred) in a quantitative field (statistics, genetics, bioinformatics, computational biology or a related field)3+ years experience in statistical analysis of NGS dataCoding fluency in R or PythonExperience planning and performing statistical analysis on genomics dataExperience working with next-generation sequencing data (exome, genome) and/or long-read technology (Nanopore, PacBio), bonus for experience working with challenging samplesExperience with bioinformatics tools including bcftools, samtools, bedtools, plink, etc.Ability to quickly evaluate the methodology of open source tools and implement new toolsFamiliarity with genomic databases such as UCSC, NCBI (dbSNP, Clinvar), EnsemblExperience managing computational tasks in a cloud environment (AWS or GCP)Solid understanding of the Linux environment and shell scriptingExcellent communication and presentation skills to a diverse audienceExperience working within a hybrid remote teamExperience with Nextflow is a plusLocation, Compensation, and Benefits:Location: Hybrid role, 2 days onsite at our Menlo Park, CA office.Compensation: $75.00 to $140.00 an hour based on experience.Benefits: Professional development opportunitiesCompany-sponsored off-sites and team meals during in-person meetingsDirect access to company leadership and the opportunity to grow into a leadership roleSan Francisco Bay Area pay range$75 - $140 USDBenefits:Comprehensive healthcare coverage (Health, Dental, and Vision)401KUnlimited PTOProfessional development opportunitiesCompany-sponsored off-sites and team meals during in-person meetingsDirect access to company leadership and the opportunity for career growthDiversity, Inclusion, and Equal Opportunity:MyOme values diversity in all forms.
