Job Description
At the South End Market, we flourish on creativity, culinary excellence, and passion! Are you a professional cook looking for this type of excitement for your next role? Here you'll bring your 1+ years of professional cooking experience to life by skillfully applying culinary techniques while contributing to an exceptional guest experience. If you are someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a solid knowledge of food products, we invite you to apply and help create enjoyable moments for our guests.
The starting rate: $22.05 per hour
The day-to-day:
- Maintain solid knowledge of food products and skillfully apply culinary techniques
- Identify and safely use kitchen equipment
- Restock kitchen supplies and food items required for service
- Properly label and date products to ensure safekeeping and sanitation
- Maintain solid menu knowledge and attention to detail with plate presentation
- Assist kitchen leadership and staff in execution of service
- Maintain solid knowledge, understanding, and preparation of base sauces, stocks, and soups
- Work as a team, assist all guest needs and inquiries
Ideal Candidate
- 1+ years of prior experience as a cook in a similar environment is preferred
- Must be willing and able to work a full-time schedule 40 hours per week to include weekends and holidays
- Knowledge of knives and knife skills, standard kitchen equipment and supplies, including, but not limited to toasters, refrigerators, coolers, slicers, beverage machines, cryovac machine, and smallwares
