Public Programming Associate
As a member of the Learning and Visitor Experience department, the Public Programming Associate supports the implementation of the Frick Pittsburgh’s annual slate of high-quality, engaging public programming including, but not limited to, lectures, specialty tours, performances, site wide community events, and workshops.

Reports to: Manager of Public Programming
Hours: 5-10 hours per week on average. Daytime and evening work required, including weekends and occasional holidays.
Status: This is a non-exempt, part-time, on-call position. Tuesday through Sunday, daytime and evening, as needed. Occasional Monday meetings required. Must be available to work a minimum of 4 programs per month. 
Hourly Rate: $15.30/hr

Responsibilities:
(80%) Serve as a day-of support person for public programs at the Frick.

• Under the direction of the Manager of Public Programming, support program logistics immediately before, during and after a program to ensure a high-quality visitor experience.
• With approval from the Manager of Public Programming, assist the Curator of Performance Events to provide day-of support for performance programs.
• Serve as a liaison for program vendors, speakers, or performers.
• Support program or performance check-in and serve as a friendly, helpful resource for program attendees. Provide consistent, professional customer service to visitors and program attendees.
• Understand the purpose, scope, and logistics of each program or performance to appropriately direct visitors and answer questions.
• Assist with any set-up, tear down or clean up.
• Assist with the implementation of L&VE responsibilities within annual large, site wide events including Summer Fridays and Winterfest.
• Support L&VE program and performance staff in navigating last minute changes or unexpected circumstances and help find solutions to maintain the integrity of the program.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

 
(20%) Assist with pre-program preparation and post-program evaluation.

• Under the direction of the Manager of Public Programming, prepare materials for upcoming programs including organizing printed materials, prepping refreshments, assisting with tech set up, organizing supplies, etc.
• Under the direction of the Manager of Public Programming or the Curator of Performance Events, help facilitate pre-program rehearsals and/or tech run-throughs.
• Following a program, participate in program debrief to evaluate the success of a program, identify areas of improvement, and assess visitor feedback.

 
Qualifications:

• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Strong problem-solving abilities to adapt to changing situations in real time
• Engaging communicator with enthusiasm, energy, flexibility and adaptability who enjoys working collaboratively
• Professional, reliable, punctual and willing to work a flexible schedule. Although scheduling is flexible, ideal candidates should be looking for consistent, year-round work and must provide a minimum amount of availability per month.
• Strong interest in art, history and/or museum work
• Ability to address potentially challenging interactions with empathy
• Ability to operate with little direct supervision to create exceptional, visitor-centered educational experiences
• Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time and to lift 30 lbs., stack and secure chairs, and move and carry tables with assistance
• Act 33/34 clearance
• Clearance of a criminal background check and FBI fingerprinting
