Test Engineer (Pressure & Fluids)

About this Position: This is a hands-on Test Engineer role responsible for leading the execution of pressure and leak testing programs on complex hardware. The position sits within a specialist test team and covers the full lifecycle of testing: from designing setups and writing procedures through to execution, data capture, and formal reporting. The work is technically demanding, operating across both liquid and gas systems to verify that hardware meets strict safety and performance standards.

Job Responsibilities:

• Design and execute hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure tests on complex assemblies
• Safely operate high-pressure systems utilizing Helium and Nitrogen
• Perform leak detection and characterization using mass spectrometry and pressure decay methods
• Ensure all testing complies with ASME, ASTM, and applicable safety standards
• Write test plans, work instructions, and formal test reports
• Set up and program data acquisition systems to capture pressure, temperature, and strain data
• Document test procedures, results, and failure analyses for engineering review

Experience Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Systems Engineering (exceptional candidates with extensive hands-on experience will be considered)
• 5+ years of experience as a Test Engineer, ideally within aerospace or defense
• Proven experience operating high-pressure fluid systems, including fittings, valves, regulators, and plumbing
• Hands-on experience with data acquisition systems; proficiency in LabVIEW, Dewesoft, or Campbell Scientific preferred
• Familiarity with pressure vessel testing standards (ASME Section VIII)
• Solid understanding of gas laws and fluid mechanics
• Background in aerospace, including flight hardware, space-grade leak rates, or propulsion systems is strongly preferred
• Experience with thermal cycling and testing hardware across extreme temperature ranges is a plus
