This position can be located in San Diego, CA or Melbourne, FL.The selected engineer will perform as a member of an interdisciplinary team on key efforts to develop novel Software integration and test on developmental NGAS programs. The successful engineer will contribute to the overall development of Software interface and management for the Electronic Warfare subsystems, including developing functional architectures, analyzing performance, developing and managing requirements and interfaces, and verifying/validating all allocated requirements. You will work directly with EW suppliers to development and integrate multi-function RF subsystems.This position may require travel up to 10%.Will be responsible for one or more of the following:Requirements development, analysis, maturation, and implementation, translating customer requirements into software specificationsCollaborate with engineers and program stakeholders to integrate avionics and mission subsystems to meet platform mission objectivesWork collaboratively with cross-disciplinary teams, including hardware, software, and firmware engineersSupport for performance compliant design of Electronic Warfare algorithms on next generation multifunction RF sensorSupport for novel solutions amid implementation constraints such as system interfaces, real time digital resource management, hardware limitationsSupport for maturation and verification in digital simulation and hardware-in-the-loop environments, including authorship to test requirementsCollaborate on Algorithm Development for system functionality and efficiencyDevelop supplier documentation such as procurement specifications, and statements of work, and review artifacts from the supplier’s development effortDocument designs using detailed schematics, diagrams, and specificationsSupport development and integration of HW subsystems and components to meet platform mission objectivesDevelop integrated HW integration and testPerforming functional and performance analysesConducting detailed trade studiesPerform analyses and estimate performance of components, subsystems, and systems in accordance with governmental and commercial standards.Configure, test, document and troubleshoot avionics and mission systemsBasic Qualifications:Must have a Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university AND 12 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university AND 10 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; or a Ph.D. AND 8 years of related professional/military experience in EngineeringExperience in RF/EW applications, including developing and applying models in Matlab, Python, and/or C/C++, along with experience in tracking and algorithm development.Experience designing, developing, integrating, and/or testing RF equipment for airborne platformsFamiliarity with 1 or more RF sensing modalities and their applications.Experience with digital signal processingAn active U.S. Government issued Top Secret SCI Security Clearance as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needsPreferred Qualifications:Demonstrated problem solving and troubleshooting skillsDemonstrated ability to assimilate new concepts quickly and independently and work in a self-directed mannerExperience designing, developing, integrating, and/or testing EW or Radar subsystems for airborne platformsDemonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work well in a close team environmentExperience in model-based systems engineering using Cameo or similar SysML toolsExperience with generating and managing requirements in DOORsExperience in performance analysis using MATLAB and Excel or similar toolsFamiliarity with Atlassian collaboration tool set (Jira and Confluence)Experience in supplier/subcontract managementExperience with developing supplier documentation, performance-based specifications, and statements of workUnderstand NGAS Sector Engineering proceduresExperience building supplier evaluation criteria and experience in conducting technical evaluations, documenting results and selectionKnowledge of electromagnetics in the RF spectrum (VHF through Ka bands)Experience in decomposing, deriving, allocating and tracing requirements from system to component levelExperience with developing supplier documentation, performance-based specifications, and statements of workExperience in supplier/subcontract managementExperience with working on a multidisciplinary team and writing technical proposalsKnowledge of system engineering design methods, including requirements analysis and flow-down, specification derivation and interface control documentationPrimary Level Salary Range: $152,900.00 - $265,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
