Supervisory Medical Support Assistant

Job Title

Supervisory Duties:

Must have the ability to provide the full range of administrative and supervisory duties which includes assignment of work, performance evaluations, selection of staff, and recommendation of awards and/or achievements.

Must have the ability to collaborate, communicate, and demonstrate customer service and interpersonal skills with all healthcare professionals to ensure quality and continuity of care and ensure compliance with established policies and regulations.

Must have the ability to provide briefings, orientations, staff development, and staff training.

Monitors and makes work assignments for lower grade Medical Support Assistant (MSA) positions, typically to Advanced MSAs (AMSA) and Lead MSAs (LMSA).

Provides input on all Lead MSA and MSA performance and resolves workplace issues that arise.

Responsible for the daily staffing assigned clinics, assuring adequate support staff is available, including coordinating of annual and sick leave amongst assigned clinics.

Resolves complex problem ensuring patient services are fully met.

Identifies educational and/or training needs, including on-the-job training to all new and established AMSAs.

Participates in hiring interview processes of LMSA selections.

Evaluates performance, completes Employee Performance Appraisals, and assists in taking disciplinary action when necessary.

Responsible for extracting and analyzing data to provide reports in support of performance measures to senior management.

Assures that all appropriate VA Forms are used correctly, and that policies and regulations are properly followed.

Provides educational sessions to train new employees in clerical process in an efficient and effective manner to ensure that processes, functions, and goals are understood, met, and followed.

Ensure assigned clinics are stocked with basic office supplies.

Comply with the mandatory training requirements for the scheduling process.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm

Telework: This position may be authorized for ad-hoc telework. Ad-hoc telework eligibility will be discussed during the interview process.
