Scientist, Applied Microbiology

Join our team at MilliporeSigma, a leading science and technology company and key player in safeguarding the food supply through development of cutting‑edge food safety solutions. In this role you will play a crucial part in expanding our food pathogen diagnostics portfolio, supporting development projects, and contributing to our BioMonitoring strategy. As a member of our global cross‑functional team you will help drive innovative projects, analyze data, and engage in scientific discussions. Physical Attributes Ability to lift 15–20 lbs. Ability to travel up to 10% (domestic and international). Roles & Responsibilities Expand our food pathogen diagnostics portfolio. Support development projects and contribute to BioMonitoring strategy. Drive innovative projects, analyze data, and engage in scientific discussions. Minimum Qualifications Master's Degree or Ph.D. in Microbiology, Molecular Biology or a related life science field with 3+ years of professional biotechnology industry experience. 1+ year of experience in development, optimization, validation and launch of diagnostic tools or assays. 1+ year of experience in growth, isolation and identification of bacterial pathogens. Preferred Qualifications Expertise in immunochemistry or similar techniques for ensuring high specificity and sensitivity in pathogen detection assays. Experience in diagnostic assay development for the detection of microorganisms in the food & beverage or pharmaceutical sector. Experience developing protocols for automation of process workflows. Experience working with pathogens such as Listeria, Salmonella, Shiga toxin–producing Escherichia coli (STEC), Cronobacter spp., Bacillus spp. in various food products. Experience in industrial microbiology in the food, beverage, and water sectors, and experience organizing validation according to ISO 16140. Experience in project leadership/management. Demonstrated ability to analyze data, write reports, and prepare and deliver technical presentations. Collaboration with cross‑functional subject matter experts, project teams, and external business partners to advance projects. Strong motivation, attention to detail, and ability to think independently. Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills in a diverse and collaborative local and global team environment. Pay Range: $68,200–$132,200 per year. The offer range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base pay compensation for this position. The actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level of experience, education, skills, and other job‑related factors. Position may be eligible for sales or performance‑based bonuses. Benefits offered by the Company include health insurance, paid time off (PTO), retirement contributions, and other perquisites.
