Managing Director of Development – Quinlan School of Business Position Details Job Title: Managing Director of Development – Quinlan School of Business Position Number: 8101176 Work Modality: Hybrid – 4 In-Person Job Category: University Staff Job Type: Full-Time FLSA Status: Exempt Campus: Chicago-Water Tower Department Name: PRINCIPAL & MAJOR GIFTS Location Code: DEVELOPMENT BUSINESS SCHOOL (03636A) Position Summary The position will lead short‑ and long‑range development activities on behalf of the Quinlan School of Business (QSB). It will manage a team responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors for major, planned, and leadership annual gifts in support of the school. They will align and integrate unit‑based efforts with the LUC Office of University Advancement’s priorities and collaborate with QSB’s academic leadership to seek philanthropic support for their education and research missions. Responsibilities Personally manage a portfolio of major and principal gift prospects, secure a requisite volume of major gifts, and oversee stewardship. Ensure the long‑term sustainable growth of that portfolio through data‑ and relationship‑driven qualification efforts. Support volunteer leadership groups for QSB, particularly the Dean’s Board of Advisers. Collaborate with colleagues across University Advancement to drive key performance indicators related to year‑over‑year fundraising growth for QSB. Other duties include nurturing a culture of data integrity, leading observation of division‑wide processes, and performing additional assigned responsibilities. Minimum Education and Work Experience 7–10 years of significant development leadership experience, preferably in higher education or similar settings. Proven quantifiable track record of personally developing, soliciting, and closing seven‑figure gifts is required. Demonstrated 3–5 years of tenure and longevity at previous employers; a history of promotions within organizations is preferred. A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree is preferred. Preferred Qualifications Experience building, managing, and holding teams of gift officers accountable. Excellent knowledge of the principles of fundraising and a comprehensive understanding of major gifts, annual giving, corporate/foundation relations, prospect management, budget oversight, and interpersonal communications. Demonstrated ability to formulate strategic plans, implement programs, and evaluate their success. Clear understanding of the mission, goals, and objectives of private higher education and Loyola University Chicago. Direct experience in a complex institution with multiple academic units is highly desirable. Proven commitment to diversity and success in recruiting, retaining, and building a diverse development team. Computer Skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Internet and email applications, and database experience.
