Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Observation Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM) Experience: Minimum one (1) year of relevant nursing experience License: Illinois state RN License in good standing Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association) Must-Have: - Relevant nursing experience - Patient assessment - Care plan development - Nursing interventions - Documentation Description: The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame. This role provides care to these patients via the utilization of the nursing process, nursing trends, and technology. The RN will maintain up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided. Initial assessment upon patient admission will be completed, and an appropriate plan of care will be developed. The RN will implement the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. Modifications to the plan of care will be made based on continuous evaluation. Safety is a priority; the RN will take responsibility for patient and employee safety. Effective communication with others will be essential to resolve issues. Constructive feedback will be offered to assist in the professional development of peers. The RN will identify personal learning needs and take initiative to address them. Fulfilling all requirements of departmental competencies is mandatory. Department-specific job functions include assessing IV sites every four hours and starting new IVs per policy. Documentation standards must be maintained, as evidenced by quarterly chart audits. Attendance at staff meetings is required. Identifying changes in patient status and responding appropriately is critical.
