Certifications: BLS; NIHSS (can obtain after offered); ACLS (preferred)

Must-Have: Must be able to pass EKG testing before the start of the assignment. Must be open to floating to any MS/Tele, ER Holding, or possibly PCU/Stepdown depending on skills and needs. Weekend requirement: 6 weekend nights per 6-week schedule and holiday as needed.

Description: This position requires the ability to float to various units as needed. The patient-to-nurse ratio is approximately 1:7. Travelers requesting time off during major holidays will not be accommodated. The following holidays are considered major holidays: Valentine's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Travelers may address any holiday time off requests directly with the manager during the assignment. The daily patient population includes adults and geriatric patients with diverse medical conditions. Special procedures may include care for patients with COPD, diabetic conditions, orthopedic and surgical needs, as well as palliative and hospice care. Strong experience in accessing and managing ports, administering blood products, cardiac telemetry, and maintaining central lines is required. Familiarity with isolation precautions, management of dysrhythmias, and renal failure is essential. The unit provides interdisciplinary support from various healthcare professionals including physical therapy and pharmacy. Charting experience in Cerner is preferred. Candidates should ensure their licensure and certifications are current and comply with local licensure requirements. Consideration for floating will align with the clinical experience of the staff member being requested to float. Compliance with floating policies and adequate orientation to new units will be provided.
