About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (18:30 - 07:00) Experience: Two years of Emergency Department experience with adult and pediatric populations within the last three years License: WI RN or Compact RN license required Certifications: BLS, PALS, ACLS - AHA ONLY required Must-Have: Traveler will be required to pass a telemetry test prior to being cleared to start. Flu vaccine required - medical/religious exemptions only. Description: This position involves night shifts with 12-hour durations from 18:30 to 07:00. There is a weekend rotation and every other holiday required. Previous charge experience is preferred. Census may reach up to 70 patients daily. Each shift may involve variable start times depending on the schedule. Patient age groups include neonates, adolescents, infants, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics. The daily workload varies with typical ER diagnoses and all level 1 traumas. Barcode scanning compliance must meet an eligibility threshold for contract extensions. Bedside shift reporting, utilization of AIDET, and hourly rounding are mandatory for all nursing staff. Travelers may be required to float as needed. Inpatient RN travelers must have two years of acute care experience within the last three years in the specialty to which they are submitting. Passing criteria for the telemetry exam is strict, with requirements for lethal rhythm identification and no incorrect answers on specific heart block questions. A passing score of 80% or higher is required for both adult and pediatric exams. Travelers will have two attempts to pass the exam, with a course certificate required for further attempts if necessary. Failure to pass within three attempts will result in cancellation of the assignment.
