Primary Care Physician Opportunity

The Special Commitment Center (SCC) within the Behavioral Health & Habilitation Administration (BHHA) is seeking a Primary Care Physician. Care that connects. Doctors at SCC become part of a closely-knit team of healthcare professionals who ensure that patients receive the best care possible. Working closely with multiple disciplines, you'll have an influential voice related to the physical and medical needs of the individuals we serve. You'll provide medical assessment and treatment in partnership with a dedicated team that views care with a holistic approach.

Schedule: Monday – Thursday, 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Some of what you'll do:

  • Serve as a primary care physician for residents, providing scheduled and urgent medical care.
  • Conduct comprehensive physical examinations; order, interpret, and review laboratory and diagnostic tests.
  • Evaluate patients for physical, behavioral, psychological, and psychosocial health issues.
  • Perform primary medical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for acute and chronic conditions; formulate and update treatment plans and standards of care.
  • Review medical histories and current/past medications to inform clinical decisions.
  • Assess and manage new or evolving medical issues.
  • Coordinate and direct a multidisciplinary clinical approach, including making diagnostic and treatment recommendations and referring to specialty consultants as needed.
  • Maintain accurate medical records; prepare reports and contribute to reviews of patient progress and medical-surgical activities.
  • Share daytime and after-hours on-call responsibilities.
  • Provide emergency medical responses and participate in mortality reviews.

We also offer our Physicians:

  • A competitive salary along with 1.25 times regular pay when covering additional workloads, additional monthly pay for board certification, an excellent benefits package, and annual funding for continuing medical education. Relocation assistance available!
  • $10,000/year for Board Certification
  • $6,500 annual allowance for CME courses
  • Employee legal representation and/or indemnification
  • Tuition reimbursement up to $25,000 for qualifying employees
  • Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.

SCC employees also receive an additional $10 per day premium pay in addition to advertised salary and a free ORCA card for transportation use. Ferry transportation is provided to McNeil Island employees.

Who should apply?

  • Valid license to practice medicine and surgery in the State of Washington or ability to obtain Licensure by the start of employment
  • Completion of the residency program
  • Experience in the practice of medicine, preferably working with the behavioral health population
  • Eligible for certification from a program accredited by the American Board of Medical Specialties.
