SUMMARY/PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Personal Trainer's purpose is to provide fitness programming specific to the goals and ability level of the client. Personal Trainers are expected to provide one-on-on, two-on-one, and small group training sessions that are 60-minutes in length.

1. Maintain a personal commitment to meeting the needs of members and guests.
2. Create a client-specific exercise program for every training session.
3. Consistently offer high-quality programming that is goal-specific, safe, and enjoyable.
4. Create and maintain client records to monitor progress and report successes.
5. Assist in development and implementation of programs and events such expos, job fairs or showcases.
6. Seek opportunities for personal and professional growth.
7. Perform a customer service role by assisting members in monitoring their exercise programs, encouraging members to reach their fitness and wellness goals, and handling member concerns and complaints quickly and effectively.
8. Network and approach members and guests within the facility to make contacts for prospective personal training services.
9. Encourage members to take advantage of other services and programs.
10. Participate in all staff related meetings and other required activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT: Uses a variety of fitness equipment. Also, office equipment including a computer, telephone, fax machine, copiers, printers and projection machines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor's Degree in a health and fitness related field is preferred.

• 1+ years of experience working as a personal trainer.

- OR -

• Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS: Nationally-recognized personal training certification from NSCA, ACSM, or NASM. Other certifying bodies will be considered. First Aid, CPR and AED Certification to be obtained within 30 days of hire.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Must be able to market personal training, obtain new clients, and display a high renewal rate.
• Proven ability to provide high quality customer service.

This job is performed at times in an office environment at normal room temperature. The noise level in this work environment is usually low.
