Job Location: Pascagoula, MS 

Trade Team Branch: Mobile, AL
Rate of Pay: $34.00 per hour, depending on level of experience / Per diem available for those who qualify
Duration: Initially 1 year

DESCRIPTION:

Trade Team USA is seeking experienced 1st Class Painter/Blasters for long-term shipyard opportunities in Pascagoula, MS.

Qualified candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of Painter/Blaster experience and be proficient in marine surface preparation, abrasive blasting, and marine coating applications.

Painters/Blasters are responsible for performing blasting and painting utilizing marine coatings in accordance with specified contract requirements. Candidates must understand applicable blasting and painting specifications, including blast profiles, coating thickness/millage requirements, surface preparation, and proper coating application.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum of 3+ years of Painter/Blaster experience required.
• Must be able to perform required abrasive blasting functions and applications.
• Must have hands-on experience with marine coating applications.
• Must understand applicable blasting and painting specifications.
• Must understand blast profile requirements.
• Must understand applicable coating thickness/millage requirements.
• Must be able to identify and correct blasting and painting deficiencies according to contract specifications.
• Must be able to properly set up and operate blasting equipment.
• Must be able to demonstrate proper use of each component of the blasting equipment.
• Must be able to sandblast according to applicable requirements.
• Must be able to properly connect airlines to the manifold.
• Must be able to perform spray-painting applications in multiple directions and positions.
• Must follow all applicable shipyard safety, quality, environmental, and production procedures.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Perform abrasive blasting and surface preparation on marine and shipboard surfaces.
• Perform painting and coating applications using approved marine coatings.
• Prepare surfaces according to applicable contract specifications.
• Achieve required blast profiles prior to coating application.
• Apply coatings according to specified thickness and millage requirements.
• Identify blasting, surface-preparation, and coating deficiencies.
• Correct deficiencies according to applicable specifications and instructions.
• Set up, inspect, and safely operate blasting equipment.
• Connect blasting airlines to applicable manifolds and equipment.
• Properly operate and utilize each component of abrasive blasting equipment.
• Perform sandblasting on structural and shipboard surfaces.
• Set up and operate applicable spray-painting equipment.
• Perform spray applications:
  • Horizontally
  • Vertically
  • Side-to-side
• Maintain proper spray patterns and coating application techniques.
• Follow contract specifications and supervisor instructions for blasting and painting operations.
• Maintain a safe and organized work area.
• Properly use required PPE and respiratory protection.
• Perform additional Painter/Blaster duties as required by project and production needs.

PAINTER / BLASTER TESTING REQUIREMENTS

Candidates should be prepared to demonstrate their ability to properly set up and operate blasting and painting equipment.

Testing will include:

• Properly hooking up airlines to the manifold.
• Demonstrating knowledge of blasting equipment and its individual components.
• Demonstrating the ability to properly sandblast.
• Demonstrating proper use of blasting equipment.
• Performing spray applications:
  • Horizontal
  • Vertical
  • Side-to-side

Candidates should be prepared to demonstrate both their practical skills and understanding of proper blasting and coating application techniques.

IMPORTANT: Do not submit candidates based solely on general painting experience. Candidates must have documented blasting experience and be capable of performing the required blasting and spray-painting assessment.
