Role: Project Manager Job Id: HBITS-07-14599 Experience: 12+ Years Location: Albany, NY 12233 Duration: 30 Months Client: NYState - Department of Environmental Conservation Position Description The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is advancing a major initiative to assess, rationalize, and modernize over 90 legacy applications used across agency programs. To support this effort, DEC seeks an experienced Project Manager to coordinate planning, delivery, and oversight across multiple teams, stakeholders, and interagency partners. The Project Manager will lead the day-to-day execution of the legacy remediation program and other high-priority initiatives, ensuring alignment between technical analysis, business process improvements, and executive priorities. This role facilitates planning, manages interdependencies, tracks progress, escalates risks, and ensures transparency across internal and external stakeholders. Day-to-Day Tasks Guide planning and coordination across Systems Analysts, Business Analysts, IT teams, and business stakeholders Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, milestones, and deliverables Facilitate working groups, sprint planning, and review sessions Track issues, risks, and decisions and manage escalation processes Monitor interdependencies across divisions, regions, offices, and technical workstreams Ensure consistent communication across internal teams and external agency partners Prepare status reports, executive updates, and progress briefings Support alignment between project activities and DEC strategic and operational goals Manage task assignments, facilitate coordination, and maintain accountability Use project tracking tools such as Planner, Excel, Teams, or equivalent Adapt to ad-hoc priorities and provide organizational leadership support as needed Position Mandatory Qualification Plans, organizes and integrates cross-functional information technology projects that are significant in scope and impact. Requested Qualifications 84 months of experience managing multi-divisional technology or business modernization projects across multiple teams. 84 months of experience developing and maintaining detailed project plans, schedules, and risk logs. 84 months of experience communicating with cross-functional teams, executive leadership, and partner agencies. 48 months of experience coordinating application modernization, remediation, or system replacement initiatives. 48 months of experience managing projects involving both technical and business process components. 36 months of experience managing Agile or hybrid teams. 36 months of experience using project tracking tools such as Microsoft Planner, Jira, MS Project, or similar. 36 months Experience producing executive-level updates and supporting fast-turnaround requests. PMP, PMI-ACP, or other comparable project management certification.
