Nurse Manager - Emergency Department

Job Overview As the Nurse Manager – Emergency Room at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, MN, you will lead a dedicated team delivering emergency nursing care to a diverse patient population spanning all age groups—from infants to geriatrics—and a wide range of clinical conditions in a fast‑paced, highly dynamic emergency department. The Nursing Manager manages nursing practice and patient care operations in collaboration with and accountable to the Nursing Director. This includes nursing practice, quality and safety, regulatory compliance, finance and other operational accountabilities. Responsibilities Manage day‑to‑day operations of assigned area(s) to ensure support of the mission, vision, values and goals of the organization. Plan, manage, coordinate and evaluate patient care activities including staffing, resource management, quality and safety, regulatory compliance, and financial management. Manage equipment inventory and supply management within operational budget. Accountable for capacity management to promote patient flow. Develop, implement, monitor and evaluate the quality improvement initiatives. Responsible for human resources management to achieve quality service and positive employee relations. Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures. Advocate for patient, family and staff needs. Drive improvement activities that promote patient‑centered care and positive customer experience. In partnership with the Nursing Practice and Education team ensure that evidence‑based/best practice clinical care is being delivered. Ensure staff compliance in areas of job requirements, education and clinical competency. Work with Nurse Director to establish goals and objectives. Promote a culture of high employee engagement, professional development, nursing education and research. Partner with interprofessional team members across the continuum of care to achieve organizational outcomes. Required Qualifications Bachelors Degree in Nursing. If Bachelor’s degree is not in nursing must have a Master’s degree in nursing. 3 years nursing experience, at least two of which are in a formal or informal (charge, lead, preceptor) leadership role. MN Registered Nurse (RN) License or ability to obtain Minnesota nursing license upon hire. Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross). Preferred Qualifications Master of Science Nursing. ANCC or AONL Certification.
