Job Title: PACU Registered Nurse (RN)

Facility/Unit: Inpatient PACU - Operating Room

Shift: Day Shift

Hours: Monday-Friday, 5:30 AM - 2:00 PM (Primary Schedule)

Alternate Schedule (per unit need): Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Call Requirements: On call once per week and one weekend per month

Pay Rate: $55-$60/hr

Job Summary


We are seeking an experienced PACU Registered Nurse (RN) to join a busy Post-Anesthesia Care Unit supporting the Operating Room. This role requires strong critical care skills, the ability to manage post-surgical recovery patients, and experience working in a fast-paced PACU environment.


Candidates must be dependable, reliable, and comfortable strictly working within the OR/PACU setting. Cerner experience is required.

Responsibilities
• Provide post-anesthesia care and continuous monitoring of patients recovering from surgical procedures
• Maintain patient ratios of 1:4 (maximum 1:6 based on acuity)
• Monitor airway status, hemodynamics, and level of consciousness
• Administer medications for pain control, nausea, and post-operative stabilization
• Recognize and respond to post-operative complications
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and OR staff
• Document patient care accurately in Cerner EHR
• Prepare patients for discharge or transfer to inpatient units
• Participate in weekly call rotation and weekend call coverage

Requirements
• Minimum 3 years PACU or critical care experience (5+ years preferred)
• Active RN License (State-specific or Compact as applicable)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - Required
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - Required
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - Required
• Cerner EHR experience required
• Experience working in a busy, high-volume PACU
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
• Dependable, reliable, and able to work independently in a fast-paced surgical setting
