Overview Willis Knighton Pierremont Acute Care Ortho/Neuro unit consists of 21 beds and is located on the 8th floor tower. Our primary population of patients include post op total joint replacement (knee, hip, and shoulder), orthopedic fracture, spinal decompression, discectomy, kyphoplasty, laminectomy and fusions. Our unit offers motivated nursing staff the opportunity to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team that is committed to maintaining high standards of quality patient and family-centered care. Our nursing staff gains advanced knowledge and skills that foster the development of critical thinking while understanding acute traumatic injuries, surgeries, and diagnosis that impact both the patient and family. Responsibilities In this role, you will provide direct patient care related to monitoring, assessment, and treatment of various medical conditions. Through this range of clinical experience, you will gain knowledge, confidence and build teamwork among your peers through shared experiences. Patient ratios range from 5-6 patients per nurse, depending on your assigned shift. Your orientation will include 12 weeks with a trained preceptor/mentor. Program and Requirements All new graduates and nurses with one year or less experience will be enrolled in our Nurse Residency Program.
