You'll decorate cakes and other bakery products, create special-order designs, and help ensure our displays are stocked, attractive, and ready for customers. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys combining creativity with quality and consistency. *Previous experience required* Cake Decorator Job Description: PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: To provide quality, decorative designs for customer special orders and a variety of bakery products. NATURE AND SCOPE: Emphasis in this position is on ensuring the proper quantity and quality of product is available for the customer. Primary learning challenge is developing proficiency in decorating and paying attention to detail and neatness while maintaining production level requirements. This position requires ongoing judgment/decision making, standing, and light lifting. Position functions and work hours may vary according to business needs. Assignments and work direction are provided by the Bakery Manager or person in charge.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS

Order proper quantity of cakes to be sold Follow and complete daily and weekly quantities of cakes to be decorated and sold as determined by the Bakery Manager or person in charge Retrieve cakes from freezer for decorating and icing Ice the cakes Ensure proper consistency for both butter cream and better cream icing Prepare cakes to be decorated Decorate cakes Follow approved decorating styles and create new decorations as appropriate Follow and complete production assignment Ensure consistent quality and accuracy in decorating Decorate for special orders Ensure a variety of product is prepared for maximum sales potential Place cakes in proper containers and locations for sale or storage Label cakes and stock product properly Store overstock in freezer and remove stales daily Stock, rotate and face bakery product Pull stales and write down product, quantity and retail Prepare sales area by cleaning cases and bins Insuring cases are stocked at the beginning and end of each shift Maintaining proper quantity of product so it is available at all times to be able to pull and fill the case as needed. Maintain a clean and organized decorating area, and ensure adequate decorating supplies are maintained Assist customers with information or requests by ensuring customer satisfaction, taking special orders and requests, and providing product information and location Follow all store and department policies and procedures
