Service Line: Adult Multispecialty Services Location: Richland Unit: 11 West Orthopedic Spine Job Summary Responsible for attending all quality and core curriculum classes, actively participating in professional development workshops and peer support groups, and successfully completing all clinical competencies and validation requirements of the Nurse Residency Program. Works under the direct and indirect supervision of the Clinical Education Team while refining nursing knowledge and skills. Actively participates in managing clinical situations for which he/she is assigned under the direct supervision of a licensed Registered Nurse who oversees all clinical experiences, documentation and procedures in the clinical environment. Adheres to policy and procedure requirements of the organization including, but not limited to licensure renewal, assigned training, employee health screenings, time and attendance policy, dress code policy, patient confidentiality, infection control, medication administration. Cohort Start Date: July 2026 Must graduate before: June 2026 Essential Functions All team members are expected to be knowledgeable and compliant with Prisma Health's purpose: Inspire health. Collect patient data, complete required forms and identify patient problems, priorities; refer or follow-up as needed; interpret and record diagnostic results; perform nursing assessment using critical thinking under the supervision of the licensed RN. Develop a plan of care based on nursing process, incorporate other disciplines, involve patient/family in revisions; make referrals to multidisciplinary support services under RN supervision. Provide care conforming to practice standards; administer treatments/procedures as prescribed; explain procedures; provide discharge teaching; identify emergencies and initiate advanced therapy; act as advocate and coordinator of patient care; evaluate care measures; respect patient rights; manage ethical issues under RN supervision. Record patient care, variations, observations; implement nursing measures; delegate care when appropriate; integrate cost‑effective measures; document unit problems; participate in QI processes; meet staffing demands; ensure safe working conditions; resolve problems and complete written reports; respond to unit call and adjust staffing as required. Graduate nurse completes all clinical skills under RN supervision and performs other duties as assigned. Supervisory/Management Responsibility This is a non‑management position that reports to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive. Minimum Requirements Education: Associate degree in Nursing. Graduate of an accredited nursing program approved by the State Board of Nursing. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred. Experience: No prior experience required. Candidates with more than 12 months of experience are not eligible. In Lieu Of RN Licensure Temporary license/Graduate Nurse licensure may be accepted upon receipt of diploma, authorization to test, and NCLEX testing date. The nurse works under provisional status with NCLEX date prior to hire and under the licensure of the clinical preceptor until licensure is obtained. After Jan 1, 2019, all newly hired RNs at Prisma Health must have an ADN or BSN from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Dept. of Education or the State Board of Nursing.
