Description
American Traveler is hiring a MRI Technologist with a minimum of 2 years of experience and ARRT MR certification for a 13-week contract at an acute care hospital setting supporting outpatient, inpatient, and ED patients.
Details
- MRI department supports outpatient, inpatient, and ED patient populations
- Performs general MR exams; excludes invasive procedures requiring anesthesia support, breast MRIs, prostates, and biopsies
- Patient ratio of 1:2 on days/mids with an average daily census of 18 patients in a 151-bed facility
- Required abdomen and pelvis imaging skills: Abdomen, MRA, MRV, Female Pelvis, MRCP, and Male Pelvis
- Required cardiovascular imaging skills: MR Aortogram, MR Pulmonary, and MR Angio Lower Extremity with Bilateral Runoff
- Required head and neck imaging skills: Brain, Cranial Nerves, Face/Soft Tissue Neck, Head MRA, Head MRV, Neck MRV, and Orbits
- Required musculoskeletal imaging skills: Foot, Hand, Hip/Bony Pelvis, Knee, Lower and Upper Extremity Long Bones, Shoulder, Sternum, and Temporomandibular Joint with/without contrast
- Required spine imaging skills: Cervical, Lumbar, Sacrum/Coccyx, Spine Trauma, Thoracic, and Thoracic MRA
- Required special imaging procedures: CINE, Diffusion (non-brain), Gradient Echo Imaging, Image Post-Processing (ADC mapping, subtraction), MIP, MRP, Spin Echo Images, Surface Coils, and T-1/T-2 Weighted Images
- Equipment includes Medrad injector and GE Voyager; competency with GE equipment is required
- EMR systems include Epic (required), Pyxis, Visage, PACS, SBAR, and Microsoft Teams
- 5x8-hour day shifts, Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM
- One rotating weekend call requirement with a call shift of 7:00 PM – 6:30 AM
- No float requirement
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of MRI technologist experience required
- ARRT (MR) and BLS certifications required; license required if applicable
- Experience in adult acute care, adult ICU, adult outpatient, and ER/trauma settings required
- Proficiency with contrast media preparation and/or administration, starting peripheral IVs, and isolation precautions required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Two professional references from a manager or supervisor within the past 2 years required prior to start
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are accepted for this position
- Local candidates are accepted; candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility may be subject to a different pay rate
- Previously employed permanent, PRN, or EP staff at this health system must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler; facility rehire approval is required
- Orientation is approximately 40 hours; pre-start modules of 8–10 hours are required and must be completed annually
- No RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment due to orientation; up to 7 days of RTO may be auto-approved thereafter as long as it does not fall on a holiday
- Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Candidates must be fully available with no other commitments during the first week, as the start day may be Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday depending on class and trainer availability
- Royal blue scrubs are required; scrubs are not provided
- Travel pairs are allowed but must have their own transportation and be comfortable with potentially different schedules
- Preferred experience includes pediatric acute care and pediatric outpatient settings
