The base salary range is $185.00—288.00/hourly, excluding fringe benefits and potential bonuses.Your final base salary will be determined based on your education, experience, licensure, and internal equity considerations. Offers are typically made below the top of the range to support future salary growth.Position Overview:The Interventional Cardiologist will provide comprehensive cardiovascular care with a focus on invasive and catheter-based diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. The physician will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary care team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered cardiovascular services tailored to the needs of a community hospital population. This role emphasizes clinical excellence, accessibility, teamwork and commitment to quality and safety.Clinical Responsibilities:Perform diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures, including but not limited to:Coronary angiographyPercutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), including stent placementManagement of acute coronary syndromes (STEMI and NSTEMI)Provide on-call interventional coverage as required for emergent cardiac cases.Evaluate and manage patients pre- and post-procedure, ensuring continuity of care.General Cardiology Care:Provide inpatient and outpatient cardiology consultations.Participate in longitudinal management of cardiovascular conditions such as coronary artery disease, heart failure, and valvular heart disease.Coordinate care with primary care providers and other specialists to ensure seamless transitions across care settings.Patient Care Expectations:Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care appropriate for a diverse community population.Communicate clearly with patients and families regarding diagnoses, procedures, risks, benefits, and alternatives.Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and respect for patient preferences and values.Ensure timely access to care and responsiveness to patient needs.Quality, Safety, and Compliance:Adhere to evidence-based clinical guidelines and hospital protocols.Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to cardiovascular care and outcomes.Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough medical documentation in the electronic health record.Comply with all hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards.Participate in peer review, morbidity and mortality conferences, and performance improvement activities.Call Coverage and Scheduling:Participate in an equitable call schedule appropriate for a community hospital setting.Respond promptly to emergent cardiac cases, including after-hours and weekend coverage as required.Support hospital initiatives aimed at maintaining timely STEMI response and transfer protocols when needed.Education and Professional Development:Maintain board certification in Interventional Cardiology and ongoing licensure.Engage in continuing medical education to remain current with advances in interventional cardiology.Provide informal education and mentorship to nursing staff, technologists, residents, or medical students, if applicable.Participate in community education or outreach activities as requested.Required Qualifications and Experience:MD or DO degree with board certification in Internal Medicine and a cardiology fellowship.Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a diverse team of healthcare professionals.Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Experience with quality improvement initiatives and data-driven decision-making.Compensation & Benefits:Competitive compensation package, including base salary and incentive structure.Comprehensive benefits: health, dental, retirement, CME allowance, malpractice coverage with tail, and paid time off.Opportunities for professional growth within an integrated health system.About Merrimack Health:Merrimack Health is the region's first health care system serving the Merrimack Valley, prioritizing care and services based on the needs of its patients.
