Groundskeeper 1The Groundskeeper 1 is responsible for the care and maintenance of lawns, grounds and equipment to ensure the safe and aesthetically pleasing environment of One Cablevision Center and all other locations as deemed necessary in the course of business. Work may include the assistance with projects outside the usual scope of corporate grounds, but deemed projects of importance to management.Essential FunctionsJob duties and responsibilities of the position of Groundskeeper 1 include, but are not limited to:Assurance of the maintenance and care of lawns, shrubs, trees and plantings through mulching, aerating, pruning, weeding, grubbing, removal of thatch, trimming and edging of flower beds, walks, walls. This may include erection of seasonal security fencing.Maintenance of safety and grounds aesthetics through: snow removal and proper sand/salt of areas, rake and disposal of leavesProper usage and care of equipment at a project siteAbility to notice pest or disease problems on turf or ornamentals and reports to supervisors.Mix and use of fertilizers and pesticides onto grass, shrubs, trees and flowersUse of hand/ power equipment including: hand or automatic sprayers, spreaders, mowers, tractors, twin-axel vehicles, snow blowers, chain saws, clippers, pruning saws, edgers, gardening toolsPlanting, securing/support of foliage, maintenance of irrigation systems (including winterizing and season preparation), application of topsoil, straw and mulch as directed by Grounds Manager or Director of GroundsMaintains a professional manner at all timesPerforms other job duties and projects, reasonably related to business, as requested by Director or senior staffCompetencies and Qualifications•Current certification for OSHA 10 coursework•Current Pesticide applicator license required•Knowledge of mowing and hand held lawn and garden equipment•Ability to train entry level Grounds workers as needed•Extensive knowledge of corporate grounds and all locations routinely used for business•Reliability and positive work ethic•Communication and organizational skills•Valid driver's license•Ability to take direction•Strong team player•Demonstrate willingness to grow in position including attendance of training classes preferredThis Company is an Equal Employment Opportunity Agency and will give all qualified applicants consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
