Pediatric Physiatrist
$253.97k - $396.84kShriners Children's
Company Overview Why Shriners Children's? Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric burn, orthopedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties healthcare system. With multiple hospitals, outpatient clinics, ambulatory care centers and outreach locations across the globe, we provide excellent care to children up to age 18 regardless of their family's ability to pay or insurance status. Our mission is to change and improve lives by caring for our patients, conducting research to gain knowledge and develop new treatments, and providing educational opportunities for physicians and other healthcare professionals.
Job Overview Shriners Children's Greenville is seeking a full-time Pediatric Physiatrist to join a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary team focused on delivering comprehensive care to children with complex neuromuscular conditions. This physician will diagnose, treat, and manage infants, children, and adolescents with conditions including cerebral palsy, arthrogryposis multiplex congenita, spina bifida, and related disorders, serving a large and underserved regional population. This role addresses a critical access gap in South Carolina, where only two pediatric physiatrists currently practice and none are located within 100 miles of Greenville. This is a primarily outpatient, clinic-based position with no inpatient responsibilities, no call, and no weekend coverage, offering exceptional work-life balance. The Physiatrist will work closely with one of the largest pediatric orthopedic groups in the Carolinas and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team that includes nursing staff, a nurse practitioner, physical and occupational therapists, prosthetics and orthotics specialists, and a Motion Analysis Center (gait lab) team. Responsibilities include providing comprehensive physiatric care and performing spasticity and tone management interventions, such as botulinum toxin injections (including under anesthesia) and lumbar punctures for baclofen pump trials, with dedicated procedural time. The physician will partner with neurosurgeons on baclofen pump implantation and management and serve as a leader of the spasticity and tone management program, acting as the primary physician overseeing care for children with cerebral palsy. This leadership role involves coordinating care with a multidisciplinary team, advancing program development, and driving optimal functional outcomes for patients. The program is supported by robust on-site resources, including a fully staffed gait laboratory for clinical care and research, as well as integrated prosthetics and orthotics services. Opportunities are available for research involvement and pursuing an academic appointment through Shriners Children's and/or the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville. Qualified candidates should be board-certified or board-eligible in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. Pediatric PM&R fellowship training is preferred; however, candidates with adult PM&R training and significant pediatric spasticity management experience will also be considered. The pay range for this position is $253,968-$396,843. Compensation is determined by a combination of years of post-fellowship experience and departmental equity.
