Global Visuals Director – Vanity Fair Locatoin: New York, NY CondéNast is seeking an experienced Global Visuals Director for Vanity Fair. This role establishes and evolves the visual strategy for the brand across multiple markets and platforms. Position Overview The Global Visuals Director works closely with the Global Creative Director to uphold and advance VanityFair’s visual identity. The role is responsible for all aspects of photo‑shoot production across print and digital platforms, managing a global visuals team, and delivering compelling visual narratives across social media, video, digital, and print. Primary Responsibilities Set and evolve the visual strategy for VanityFair globally. Collaborate with the Global Creative Director to maintain a consistent visual aesthetic across platforms and formats. Provide clear visual direction to the visuals team across markets. Develop and maintain strong relationships with editors in each market to understand visual needs and coordinate projects. Manage team members on photo research, image selection, credits, and CMS upload/publication. Spearhead the visuals team on all aspects of photo‑shoot production, from commissioning to vendor liaison, ensuring shoots succeed within budget. Track and maintain the overall global photo budget, assigning project budgets and communicating status to the Global Creative Director and Operations/Finance partners. Lead visual teams on high‑impact content from project start to completion. Delegate and manage all work across the team, providing direction, feedback, and support to resolve challenges. Oversee production workflow, workload assignments, and visual quality. Conduct visual research and curate photographer lists with visual boards. Maintain swift communication regarding visual direction, execution, and delivery within the internal team and with vendors. Collaborate with sales, advertising, editorial, visual, web, social, and video teams to ensure the highest level of visual execution across all platforms. Ensure contracts, photo fees, and usage rights are in place for all images (produced and researched), managing them with internal and external stakeholders. Provide editorial and creative support on all platforms; play a key role in planning, commissioning, and signing off on projects. Nurture talent and foster a transparent, respectful, inclusive, and collaborative team environment across markets. Contribute to HR/People processes such as performance management, compensation reviews, and recruitment. Desired Skills & Qualifications 10+ years of experience in visual production, with significant magazine experience and an extensive network of agencies, photographers, stylists, and studios. Experience and passion for conceptual, fashion, culture, and lifestyle photography, with a special love of portraiture. Deep knowledge of the history of photography and art history. Strong people manager who inspires and develops talent. Experience leading a global team in a matrix organization. Excellent editorial judgment and proven ability to manage teams to develop visual stories across platforms. Strong communication and collaboration skills, able to navigate multiple stakeholders’ inputs and decision‑making styles. Recognized expertise in visual research and production from development to execution. Efficient prioritization of projects and resources. Understanding of content creation across all platforms. Ability to contribute to editorial decisions and develop visual stories across all platforms. Occasional travel for assignments and shoots, as requested by the Global Creative Director.
