Reliability Engineer

Job DescriptionPrimary Duties & ResponsibilitiesDevelop and execute qualification plans for new products and technologiesDesign and oversee reliability testing including burn-in, life test, HTOL, TC, thermal shock, damp heat, HASTProvide instructions and technical guidance to technicians and operators performing reliability stresses and testsAnalyze accelerated stress data to determine acceleration factors, lifetime projections, FIT, reliability confidence intervalsPerform statistical analysis using JMP, Excel, SQL, or similar tools to identify reliability trends and degradation mechanismsDetermine samples requiring physical failure analysis and coordinate FA activitiesInterpret results from SEM, FIB, EDX, cross-section analysis, material analysis, and related techniquesDrive corrective actions and reliability improvements through root-cause investigationsDevelop, validate, and optimize electrical and optical test methodologies for photodiodes and laser devicesImprove test capability, measurement accuracy, throughput, repeatability, and reproducibilityAuthor Qualification Test Reports (QTRs), reliability assessments, and customer-facing reliability documentationPresent reliability test results and recommendations to management, customers, and cross-functional teamsEducation & ExperienceB.S. or M.S. in Physics, Engineering, Materials Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or related technical discipline3+ years of experience in semiconductor reliability, optoelectronic device engineering, product engineering, test engineering, or related fieldsExperience working with semiconductor optoelectronic devices or optical communication componentsExperience planning, executing, and analyzing engineering experimentsSkillsReliability analysis and lifetime modelingStatistical analysis using JMP, Excel, Python, or equivalent toolsDesign of Experiments (DOE)SQL and data analysis toolsStrong understanding of III-V semiconductor device physicsKnowledge of laser and photodiode operation, performance characterization, and degradation mechanismsOptical and electrical test development for photodiodes and laser devicesReliability and qualification standards for semiconductor and optoelectronic productsAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet aggressive deadlinesStrong technical communication skills, both written and verbalExcellent problem-solving and root-cause investigation skillsEffective collaboration within cross-functional engineering teamsWorking ConditionsAbility to work in a semiconductor cleanroom environmentSupport qualification and production activities in a 24/7 manufacturing environmentPhysical RequirementsWork in a Class 100/1000 cleanroom environment for extended periodsWear full cleanroom attireStand and sit for extended periods as requiredHandle test hardware and measurement equipmentSafety RequirementsAll employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp.
