Receiving AssociateAs a Receiving Associate, you will help ensure AFW products are safely received from the truck shipment to the warehouse before making its way to our customer's homes. The Receiving Associate is responsible for safely and efficiently loading, unloading, identifying, and tagging merchandise upon arrival.The ideal Receiving Associate develops strategies to improve receiving efforts, adheres to quality expectations and standards, and has excellent attention to detail. If you are eager to help our warehouses stay stocked with products and make a difference to the customers, then AFW is looking for you!Overnight associates are typically scheduled: 9 PM-5 AMCompensation Package: Pay Rate: Starting at $17/hour and up - dependent on experience. 3rd shift Premium - Additional $2.00/hr and Weekend Premium - Additional $2.00/hr. Pay Grade B: $16.00-$29.71. You will fill orders 0 to 35 feet above the ground.Ability to have a flexible schedule and work all shifts, holidays, and weekends.Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions accurately.Certificates and Licenses: None required. Prior warehouse and/or equipment certifications/licenses preferred.Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED is preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience accepted in lieu of diploma.Job Responsibilities (Typical duties include but are not limited to):Breakdowns merchandise inside trailers and containers – unstacks and positions merchandise for removal from containers.Accurately matches packing list to vendor labels and operates radio frequency (RF) scanners to ensure an accurate inventory count.Accurately identifies merchandise by vendor label and applies matching AFW label to the merchandise when directed by the AFW management team.Safely loads and unloads merchandise to and from pallets and skids.Possesses the ability to become certified on various warehouse equipment.Appropriately and safely uses and operates the following after AFW certification and training: trailer chocks, forklift, reach truck, pallet jack, hand truck, load hoggs, dock plates and more.Lock Out Tag Out (L.O.T.O) equipment as needed.Completes all tasks with correct lifting and team lifting techniques.Ensures department, walking lanes, and nearby areas are clean and professional.Works as a team member by interacting and communicating with fellow associates in a cooperative, constructive manner.All other duties assigned by the Receiving Manager as directed.All training will be provided by AFW.This position has no supervisory responsibilities.Physical RequirementsCapacity to maneuver in confined and at times congested areas.Capability to stand, walk, stoop, & bend for 8 hours or more daily.Lifting, gripping, bending, kneeling, stooping, and moving merchandise 8 hours or more daily.Continuous use of arms, hands, fingers, eyes, legs, and back.Ability to lift, lower, move, carry, push and pull all sizes of merchandise up to 100 lbs. and the skill to handle/manipulate merchandise up to 250 lbs. frequently.Able to work in variable environments with different lighting, loud exterior noise, and flooring.Ability to work 0 to 35 feet above the ground.Physical Work EnvironmentFluorescent LightingConcrete FlooringClimate affected by outside conditionsConsiderable exterior noiseExtreme temperature fluctuations in the warehouseAmerican Furniture Warehouse is an Equal Opportunity Employer M/F/D/V.
