  • Provide accurate, evidence-based drug information as a subject matter expert in oncology pharmacotherapy to physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on oncology medications, including indications, administration, side effects, and monitoring requirements, and complete thorough medication history documentation.
  • Perform and contribute to pharmacy and oncology-related quality improvement activities, including medication use evaluations and process improvement initiatives.
  • Supervise pharmacy support personnel within the assigned work area, providing direction, oversight, and feedback to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant medication preparation and distribution.
  • Ensure medications and related products are prepared and distributed in accordance with established procedures, schedules, and clinical protocols.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams to optimize oncology treatment plans and support best practices in medication management.
  • Apply professional principles to collect information from diverse sources, perform analyses, and summarize data to solve medication-related problems or design improvements to pharmacy systems and programs.
  • Use strong communication skills to address conflicting views or issues, mediate fair solutions, and document recommendations and clinical interventions with well-developed writing skills.
Essential Skills
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, with a Doctorate degree in Pharmacy preferred.
  • Three to four years of previous Pharmacist experience preferred, with prior hospital-based oncology pharmacy experience highly preferred.
  • Pediatric acute care oncology experience.
  • Hospital pharmacy experience with a focus on oncology patient care.
  • Current license and registration by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Pharmacy.
  • Strong clinical knowledge of oncology pharmacotherapy and related supportive care medications.
  • Ability to interpret and evaluate complex oncology medication orders and identify potential adverse reactions or interactions.
  • Skills to collect information from diverse clinical and data sources, apply professional principles in performing analyses, and summarize information to solve problems or design relatively complex systems and programs.
  • Communication skills to effectively address conflicting views or issues, mediate fair solutions, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Well-developed writing skills to document clinical recommendations, medication histories, and quality improvement activities accurately and clearly.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in reviewing, verifying, and dispensing medications.
  • Ability to supervise and provide guidance to pharmacy support personnel in a clinical setting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Doctorate degree in Pharmacy (PharmD) preferred for advanced clinical practice in oncology.
  • Previous hospital-based oncology pharmacy experience highly preferred, including experience with chemotherapy and supportive care regimens.
  • Experience working in pediatric acute care oncology environments is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to participate in and lead quality improvement initiatives within the pharmacy or oncology service line.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to improve medication-use processes and systems.
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced acute care environment while managing multiple priorities.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development in oncology pharmacotherapy and evidence-based practice.
