Key Responsibilities of the Physical Therapist

• Evaluate new patients and set objective, measurable treatment goals.
• Conduct diagnostic tests to assess muscle, nerve, joint, and functional abilities.
• Administer treatment modalities and re-evaluate based on patient progress.
• Provide detailed and analytic documentation of patient care and education.
• Communicate effectively with medical and allied health personnel on patient needs.
• Instruct patients and families on therapeutic procedures to continue at home.
• Guide Physical Therapist Assistants, Aides, and students in patient care.
• Maintain departmental policies, quality assessments, and safety standards.

Requirements of the Physical Therapist

• Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program
• Licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
• Current BLS certification
