The successful candidate will provide strategic legal counsel to executive leadership and the Board, ensure regulatory compliance, and mitigate organizational risk. This role is pivotal in supporting the company's mission of driving economic growth through safe, efficient, and innovative operations. The General Counsel will be responsible for legal strategy, serving as the legal advisor to the President, and CEO, and the Board of Directors, and will also lead a comprehensive risk management program aligned with the company's strategic objectives. Applicants must have a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school, with a preference for a Master's degree, and at least 10 years of legal experience in corporate law, government law, contracts, insurance, and regulatory compliance. The role requires a candidate with high ethical standards, excellent communication skills, strong business acumen, and the ability to make decisions under pressure. The General Counsel will also be involved in managing relationships with external legal counsel, insurers, brokers, and consultants, and must be adept at monitoring legislative and regulatory developments. A TWIC - Transportation Worker Identification Credential, a valid state driver's license, and membership in the State Bar of Georgia are required. The position demands a professional with exceptional leadership, negotiation, and strategic thinking skills, who can interact effectively with staff at all levels and is willing to travel and be on call as needed.
