Job Summary:

The Dietitian provides comprehensive medical nutrition therapy within the Medical Nutrition Services department, collaborating with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to develop and implement individualized nutrition care plans for inpatients, outpatients, and long-term residents. The role emphasizes culturally appropriate, patient-centered nutrition management aligned with organizational goals.

Responsibilities:

• 
  Conducts nutrition screening, assessment, diagnosis, education, intervention, monitoring, and evaluation using the Nutrition Care Process across all care settings.
  
  
• 
  Documents all nutrition care interventions accurately in patient medical records, utilizing established protocols and coding standards.
  
  
• 
  Collaborates closely with healthcare teams to ensure appropriate diet orders, food preferences, menu modifications, and formula needs are met.
  
  
• 
  Participates as an active member of the Diabetes Team and other multidisciplinary conferences to coordinate patient care.
  
  
• 
  Maintains current knowledge of clinical nutrition practices and applies evidence-based approaches to optimize health outcomes.
  
  
• 
  Provides education and counseling to patients, staff, and community groups to promote healthy nutritional habits.
  
  

Qualifications:

• 
  Master's Degree in Nutrition, Dietetic, or Institutional Management from an accredited program.
  
  
• 
  Registered Dietitian credential from the Commission on Dietetic Registration and licensure from the State of Alaska (or obtain within six months).
  
  
• 
  Minimum of one year of clinical dietetic experience; advanced certifications in dietetic specialties are preferred.
  
  
• 
  Proficiency in clinical nutrition assessment, documentation, and electronic medical record systems such as RPMS.
  
  
• 
  Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively educate and collaborate with diverse healthcare teams and patients.
  
  
• 
  Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
