Retail Assistant Manager

JOB OVERVIEW

The Assistant Store Manager manages the sales floor in the Store Manager’s absence and assists the Store Manager with merchandising and marketing efforts as well as daily operational responsibilities of the retail store. This position also assists customers in the retail store and focuses on providing the highest level of customer service while increasing sales.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Fulfills store management duties in Store Manager’s absence.
• Executes floor moves, puts out product, and otherwise assists Store Manager in merchandising the sales floor.
• Supports daily sales expectations to ensure sales goals are met and provides feedback as needed. Assists Store Manager in coaching and improving performance of team members.
• Collaborates with management to create and implement store promotions and marketing.
• Leads and directs the daily work of sales associates to effectively help customers and keep the store stocked and clean.
• Assists Store Manager in training and development of team members’ chemical, equipment, and operational knowledge.
• Accountable for following opening and end-of-day procedures such as reconciling cash register drawers, preparing daily deposits, and securing the main building as well as other storage buildings on the property.
• Assists customers in-store and by phone with water tests, purchases, orders, and advanced pool/spa troubleshooting. Addresses concerns and complaints in a timely and effective manner. Escalates customer issues and concerns to Store Manager as needed.
• Ensures store associates comply with safety instructions for handling and disposal of chemicals.
• Monitors stock and inventory levels, providing inventory counts when needed.
• Opportunity to make commission on any Spa, Sauna or Pergola sales.

Credentials & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent education.
• 4 years of retail management/supervisory experience.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Basic math skills sufficient to complete orders, calculate inventory, and manage cash registers.

Special Requirements

Must be able to work a year-round full-time schedule based on business needs, including weekends and holidays. Must have open availability and may be asked to work a six-day week during pool opening and closing seasons. Peak hours are 9am–6pm and changes to 5pm for the winter season.

Able to reach overhead, bend, squat, kneel and carry products in order to perform duties. Able to regularly lift and carry 25 lb. and up to 50 lb.

Pay: $24.00 - $26.00 per hour
