Patient Services Representative

Overview Department: St. John's LansingEmployment Type: Full Time Shift Available: Days Hours: 8-hour shifts, 7:00am – 3:30pm Location: St. John's Hospital - Leavenworth, KS. We are seeking a Patient Service Representative, internally referred to as Patient Access Representative or Patient Registration Clerk, in our high volume St. John's Lansing office. As a Patient Service Rep, you interview the patient or his/her representative to obtain identifying and basic demographics to prep for upcoming visits. Responsibilities Interviews the patient or his/her representative to obtain identifying and basic demographics to prep for upcoming visits Schedules patients in their clinic and assists with scheduling them in others Schedules patients for radiology appointments as requested by providers. Processes referals and schedules patients accordingly. Verifies insurance coverage, collects co-pays and prior balances from patients, reconciles and prepares deposits, and troubleshoots billing issues Greets and checks in patients and takes all incoming phone calls and routes to appropriate staff or initiates messages Coordinates clinic business processes such as supply ordering, sales calls, record release, fax and mail processing Must be able to: (1) operate a computer to accurately input and retrieve data; (2) communicate with the population served, staff, and providers utilizing age specific techniques; (3) maintain proficiency in medical terminology; (4) project a positive and helpful attitude. Qualifications 1. Previous experience in a medical setting, preferred. 2. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. 3. High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred. 4. Customer Service experience preferred.
