Pipelayer/LaborerC.J. Hughes Construction Co., Inc. is seeking an experienced Pipelayer to join our Water Division. This position involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of water pipelines and related infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pipelaying, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively in diverse weather conditions and challenging environments. This is a hands-on, field-based role that may require travel between various project sites.Essential Functions & Responsibilities:Install, lay, and connect water pipelines ensuring proper alignment and gradeExcavate and prepare trenches according to specifications, including grading and levelingAlign and position pipe accurately, making adjustments to meet grade requirementsInstall PVC, ductile iron, and other piping materials as requiredApply sealing materials and perform testing to ensure pipelines are properly sealed and leak-freeAssist with trenching, backfilling, and compaction activitiesSafely excavate around existing utilities while maintaining awareness of surroundingsOperate hand tools and power tools used in pipeline installationAssist with operation of heavy equipment such as excavators and trenchers when neededRead and interpret blueprints, grade stakes, and job specificationsFollow all safety procedures, including trench safety, shoring, and confined space requirementsMaintain a clean and organized job site, including site preparation and cleanupCommunicate effectively with crew members and supervisors regarding job progress and issuesMaintain productivity while ensuring all work meets safety and quality standardsQualifications:Prior experience in pipelaying, preferably within water distribution or underground utility systemsAbility to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawingsStrong understanding of trench safety, shoring techniques, and confined space requirementsHigh school diploma or equivalent preferredKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:Strong knowledge of pipeline installation and grade workAbility to determine and achieve proper grade requirementsProficiency with hand tools and power tools used in constructionStrong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanshipAbility to work outdoors in all weather conditionsReliable, dependable, and strong work ethicAbility to work effectively both independently and within a teamEmployment Requirements:Valid Drivers License and Reliable TransportationMust provide documentation to verify identity and employment eligibility in accordance with federal I-9 requirementsAbility to pass drug test and background checkWillingness to travel and work in different areas as neededCommitment to following all Safety Policies and ProceduresAbility to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform physical laborAbility to work overtime and extended hours based on workloadMust be 18 years of agePhysical Requirements:Ability to perform physically demanding labor including lifting, bending, and climbingFrequent standing, walking, kneeling, and working in trench environmentsAbility to lift up to at least 50 poundsCapability to work in demanding outdoor construction environmentsWork Environment:Outdoor construction job sites in varying weather conditionsExposure to heavy equipment, noise, traffic, and uneven terrainWork performed in trenches, confined spaces, and active construction zonesFast-paced environment requiring constant awareness of safety hazardsSchedule/Travel Requirements:Full-time positionExpected hours: 40 to 50 per weekOvertime may be required based on project demandsTravel required depending on job locationCompensation & Benefits:Competitive pay based on experience401(k) with company matchMedical, dental, and vision insuranceHoliday payPaid vacationOpportunities for professional growth and developmentComprehensive Benefit PackagePay: $19.86 - $24.28 per hourAdditional Duties:Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.C.J.
