Your Role As an Associate Scientist 2, your activities will support assay development and validation of new and innovative service offerings within the Blazar Laboratory. You are responsible for maintaining the scientific integrity of technical work performed in the laboratory, making scientific observations, maintaining detailed workbooks/documentation and ensuring all documentation fulfills generally accepted professional/industry standards. Requirements also include maintaining a thorough understanding of company testing services, technical principles and applications as they apply to your position. Essential Job Functions Conduct assigned testing with minimal supervision within constraints of lab scheduling. Perform assay development testing in accordance with SOPs. Maintain complete and comprehensive records for study integrity. Make detailed observations and document results. Demonstrate consistently high levels of quality work. Operate and maintain lab equipment as required by SOPs and testing procedures. Perform peer review of assay batch/lab records to ensure Right First Time (RFT). Utilize applicable computer programs during testing and routine tasks (i.e., Word, Excel, Oracle, LIMS, BRIQS, etc.). Use problem solving/troubleshooting skills. Communicate deviations/events, progress and interim results to Lab Management. Inform supervisor of deviations or factors that may affect quality and accuracy of data. Maintain a working knowledge of lab procedures and assays. Create/revise SOPs, laboratory records, and other related documentation as assigned. Assist with training of laboratory personnel as needed or assigned. Contribute ideas and suggestions to improve standard laboratory techniques. Minimum Qualifications Master’s Degree in a scientific discipline (e.g., Biology, Chemistry) with 6+ months of scientific/laboratory experience in a professional laboratory setting. Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific discipline (e.g., Biology, Chemistry) with 1+ year of scientific/laboratory experience in a professional laboratory setting. Associate Degree in a scientific discipline (e.g., Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry) with 2+ years of laboratory experience. High school diploma or GED with 5+ years of laboratory experience. Preferred Qualifications Experience with scientific laboratory practices, techniques, equipment, materials, and mathematical calculations. Experience in molecular biology techniques such as nucleic acid extraction, PCR, serial dilutions. Experience in pipetting and aseptic techniques. Basic skills in applicable computer programs (MS Office). Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work well independently and in a team-based environment. Pay Range Pay Range for this position: $26/hr - $40/hr. Our ranges incorporate all levels and career types available within this specific role, and are derived from relevant industry market data.
