2026 Seasonal Camp Counselor

Successful Seasonal Camp Counselor candidates will lead and coordinate groups in the City’s youth summer camp program. Responsibilities include planning and facilitating group activities including active games, arts and crafts, special events and more. Camp Counselors are responsible for the supervision and safety of campers both on-site and on field trips, encouraging group participation and relationship building and promoting positive behavior and development for an enjoyable summer camp experience. Training and Schedule Camp counselor training will begin May 4th and summer camp will run from June 1st through August 7th. Candidates will be required to work all scheduled weeks of Summer Camp. Shifts vary between the hours of 6:45am and 6:15pm. Positions are available for up to 40 hours per week depending on program needs. On-Call Seasonal Workers On-Call Seasonal Workers are temporary employees who are offered brief periods of work and work will cease when the assigned work has been completed. Work assignments may also include: special events, Kid’s Night Out, Winter/Spring Break Camp, etc. Background Checks The position is a temporary position and complete background investigation including fingerprinting and a drug screen will be conducted. Onsite fingerprinting and drug testing will be conducted at the Seminole Recreation Center on April 9th. Position Details Position closing date: Open until filled Salary range: $16.00/hour or $16.25 for returning Camp Counselors Requirements This position requires applicants to be at least 18 years old, possess a high school diploma or equivalent, and a Florida driver’s license. CPR and First Aid training provided. Screening Candidates for this position will be screened through the Department of Children and Families. Standards for Professional Appearance Clothing should be neat, clean, appropriate for the workplace, professional, and should not constitute a safety hazard. Personal appearance includes good personal hygiene. Facial hair should be clean‑shaven or be well‑groomed. (This does not supersede any departmental standards regarding facial hair.) Visible body piercings or adornments shall be limited to two earrings per ear, unless approved by the City Manager. Other visible body piercings, including but not limited to: nose piercings, gauges, lip piercings, tongue piercings, eyebrow piercings, are prohibited. Jewelry may be restricted for safety reasons, based on the position. Hair styles should be neat, professional, and appropriate for the workplace. Hair dye, if used, should be selected from the range of naturally occurring hair colors. Visible Tattoos Tattoos shall not be visible above the collar level of a crew neck tee shirt. Tattoos on the hand shall not extend past the first knuckle, closest to the wrist. Tattoos on the palm of the hand are not permitted. One discreet tattoo in the form of a solid, single color ring, not to exceed 8 mm in width, is permitted on the wearer’s ring finger (not thumb), between the first and second knuckle of the finger. The display of unprofessional or offensive tattoos or brands, (nudity or violence, sexually explicit or vulgar art, words, phrases, profane language, symbols to incite negative reactions, initials or acronyms that represent criminal or oppressive organizations) are strictly prohibited. The Department Head or City Manager reserve the right to require any tattoo to be covered. Reasonable Accommodations The City of Seminole does provide medical and religious accommodations.
