Job Summary

Join a dedicated Maternal Child Health team as a Registered Nurse specializing in Labor & Delivery in New York. This role is based at a modern Birthplace facility, featuring six Labor and Delivery Rooms, two Labor Triage rooms, eleven Post Partum Rooms, a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit with four single-family NICU rooms, and an integrated Cesarean Section Surgical Operating Room and PACU.

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive, direct patient care to a diverse population within the Maternal Child Health department, ranging from uncomplicated to highly complex cases. This position emphasizes a person-centered care approach, involving patients and families in care planning and goal setting, while adhering to professional nursing standards set by organizations such as AWONN, ACOG, NNA, and AORN. Staff are cross-trained across Post Partum, Labor & Delivery, and NICU units, fostering a versatile and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct, comprehensive patient care to a designated group of patients within the Maternal Child Health department.
• Collaborate with unit leadership to ensure adherence to the scope of practice for nursing governing bodies relevant to Maternal Child Health (e.g., AWONN, ACOG, NNA, AORN).
• Conduct thorough patient and family assessments, identifying normal parameters, deviations, and abnormalities in physical, emotional, developmental, and behavioral status.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate person-centered care plans, effectively prioritizing both expected and unanticipated patient and family needs.
• Demonstrate critical thinking skills in making appropriate clinical decisions, prioritizing events, and proactively addressing potential and actual problems.
• Perform technical nursing skills required for the care of maternal-child patients and families.
• Facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration, linking patients and families with other disciplines and services as needed.
• Act as a knowledgeable resource and mentor to peers, contributing to a supportive team environment.
• Maintain current knowledge of facility policies, procedures, and standards to ensure best practices.

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Demonstrated experience in Labor and Delivery.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Postpartum care.
• Cross-training experience in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
