VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION MANAGER I - HILO, HAWAII ISLAND

Recruitment Number: 26-0067 This vacancy is with the Department of Human Services, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, located in Hilo. Salary: $6,043 to $7,351 per month (SR-24, Step D to I). This class reflects a branch chief responsible for managing a vocational rehabilitation and training program for a neighbouring island county, characterized by a significantly smaller client population served than that reflected at the Vocational Rehabilitation Manager II level. The vocational rehabilitation and training program is aimed at placing persons with mental and/or physical disabilities into employment or community rehabilitation programs, and assisting persons with blindness and visual impairments in functioning more independently in the home and community. Education: Current certification as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor. Specialized Experience: Two (2) years of responsible professional work experience in one or a combination of the following: A. Vocational rehabilitation training as a regularly designated responsibility; vocational guidance and teaching work in a recognised vocational rehabilitation program or in a school for persons with disabilities; developmental work in programmes of vocational rehabilitation located in an educational institution, government, business or industry; personnel placement or employment placement experience which has provided extensive knowledge of training and rehabilitation requirements necessary to place persons with disabilities in one or more broad occupational areas; and vocational rehabilitation counselling experience involving the adjustment, training and placement of persons with disabilities into gainful employment. Supervisory Aptitude: Supervisory aptitude rather than actual supervisory experience may be accepted. This requirement will be considered to have been met when there is strong affirmative evidence of the necessary supervisory abilities and/or potential. Managerial Aptitude: Managerial aptitude rather than actual managerial experience may be accepted.
