Section Manager, Lean Manufacturing & Ops Lead

Location: 201 Altorfer Lane, East Peoria, IL 61611, United States. Base Pay: $67,700.00 - $101,600.00 per year. Employee Type: Full Time. Manage Others: Yes. We are looking for an experienced Section Manager (Production Supervisor) who can leverage their skills to support our rapid growth and team expansion. This position requires a self‑motivated, hands‑on individual who can understand and learn new processes, develop standards of work, and train new personnel. The ideal candidate has strong communication skills, technical writing abilities, works well with multiple organizational teams, and demonstrates problem‑solving, design, and innovation skills with a detail‑oriented mindset to help the team get the job done. In this role you will review, analyze, and optimize existing manufacturing processes to increase efficiency using lean manufacturing methods. You will interpret engineering drawing packages and sales write‑ups to assemble and test products per customer and quality requirements, including UL. You will assist the directing manager in planning necessary manpower and equipment to complete production and testing functions efficiently, effectively, and in accordance with production schedules. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Manage and conduct a safe workspace within the team. Lead daily production meetings with the team, covering safety, quality, velocity, and cost. Interpret design details to generate manufacturing shop work instructions and standards of work. Train experienced and new personnel. Provide counseling, coaching, hiring, and disciplinary actions as required. Provide manufacturing and technical support. Manage production team to weekly and daily objectives. Provide production and operational status to internal customers. Support product and assembly between production and engineering. Collaborate with Engineering and Leadership on design enhancements. Identify and implement improvements to manufacturing and testing processes and equipment. Lead lean process improvement projects. Maintain and assist in the development of process measures and KPIs. Identify, develop, and conduct training for the Operations team. Conduct and lead safety projects. Support manufacturing engineering and safety in the development of PFMEA and SFMEA. Ensure products meet or exceed quality and workmanship standards. NOTE: This job description is not all‑inclusive; other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as necessary. Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field. 5+ years of experience in manufacturing and/or supervisory roles. Lean engineering knowledge and the use of Lean tools. Experience in manufacturing engineering and leading production teams. Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office and PowerPoint. Experience designing shop tooling using AutoCAD or solid modeling software. Experience with electrical systems and test/inspection equipment. Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings. Physical capability to climb, bend, lift, pull, and push; lift 35 lbs and handle large equipment. Experience working outdoors in variable weather conditions. Understanding of electrical hazards and lockout/tagout processes. Experience with overhead equipment, crane operation, and elevated platforms with fall arrest equipment.
