About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and highly organized  HR Manager to oversee our recruitment process and day-to-day human resources administration. This position will play an important role in helping us build a strong, reliable workforce while ensuring our employees are properly supported and all HR, payroll, and compliance requirements are managed accurately.

The successful candidate will be responsible for  screening applicants, conducting initial interviews, shortlisting qualified candidates for management’s final interview, and managing the administrative requirements associated with our employees from onboarding through departure.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment & Candidate Screening

• Develop and post job advertisements across appropriate recruitment platforms.
• Review resumes and applications and identify qualified candidates.
• Conduct initial telephone or video interviews to assess experience, qualifications, communication skills, reliability, and overall suitability.
• Verify references, employment history, certifications, and other required qualifications.
• Maintain a candidate database and recruitment records.
• Shortlist qualified candidates and present recommendations to management for final interviews.
• Coordinate interviews and assist management throughout the hiring process.
• Maintain a consistent and professional recruitment process.

Employee Administration

• Manage the complete employee onboarding and offboarding process.
• Prepare and maintain employee files and HR documentation.
• Collect and maintain required employee information, certifications, licenses, training records, and documentation.
• Track employee qualifications, expiries, renewals, and required training.
• Prepare employment agreements, offer letters, policies, and other HR documentation.
• Maintain accurate employee records while protecting confidential information.
• Assist employees and management with HR-related questions and concerns.
• Maintain attendance, vacation, sick time, and other employee records.

Payroll & Benefits Administration

• Process bi-weekly or weekly payroll accurately and on time.
• Maintain employee payroll records and ensure hours, overtime, vacation, and other earnings are accurately recorded.
• Coordinate payroll deductions, remittances, and required reporting.
• Administer employee benefits and assist employees with benefit-related questions.
• Work with accounting and management to resolve payroll discrepancies.

Workers’ Compensation & Compliance

• Manage workers’ compensation administration and reporting.
• Coordinate workplace injury/incident documentation and claims.
• Maintain records and follow up on employee claims and return-to-work requirements.
• Ensure required workplace documentation and employee records are maintained.
• Assist management with maintaining compliance with applicable employment, workplace safety, and workers’ compensation requirements.
• Maintain current knowledge of applicable employment standards and HR legislation.

Qualifications & Experience

• 3+ years of experience in an HR, Human Resources Generalist, HR Manager, or similar role.
• Strong experience with  recruitment, candidate screening, payroll, and employee administration .
• Experience managing workers’ compensation claims and documentation.
• Strong understanding of employment standards and workplace regulations.
• Payroll experience with a strong understanding of deductions, overtime, vacation pay, and employee records.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• High level of discretion when dealing with confidential employee information.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and HR/payroll software.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Industry Experience – Considered an Asset

Experience in  transportation, trucking, rail, construction, heavy equipment, warehousing, logistics, or industrial operations would be considered a strong asset.
