Industrial EngineerLocation: Detroit, MI – Detroit Conner PlantAs a member of the Engineering team, the Industrial Engineer will be responsible for assisting production by providing technical support; lowering the cost of production by eliminating wastes in both manpower and materials; and planning utilization of facilities, equipment, materials, and personnel to improve efficiency of operations by performing the following duties:The Role:Assist in covering maintenance supervisorsSupervision of construction and/or contractor crews during capital or other facility projectsStudy functional statements, organization charts, and project information to determine functions and responsibilities of workers and work units and to identify areas of duplicationEstablish work measurement programs and analyze work samples to develop standards for labor utilizationAnalyze work force utilization, facility layout, and operational data such as production costs, process flow charts, and production schedules, to determine efficient utilization of workers and equipmentRecommend methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing workflow, relocating workstations and equipment, and purchase of equipmentConfer with management and engineering staff to implement plans and recommendationsManage the maintenance records of machines in regards to the preventable maintenance programDevelop management systems for cost analysis, financial planning, wage and salary administration, and job evaluationDesign/purchase production equipment and toolsWrite and maintain standard work instructions (SWI's)Review and improve packaging issuesComplete FMEA's and process flows as requiredConduct time studiesVisualize different work station layoutsHandle parts, assemblies or packaging materialsAbility to work overtime as neededFollow ISO14001 and TS16949 procedures/processesParticipate in plant recycling programsAssist in launch programs as neededContribute to the achievement of quality/management objectives by optimizing design (of layouts, machines, etc…) to produce quality productsPerform other duties as assignedAdvantages of working at Lear in the Engineering group:Exposure to executive leadership teamsTeam collaboration will afford you the opportunity to draw from each other's experience and knowledge and further encourage communication and supportImproved business productivity because everyone achieves and enjoys success once a goal is reached or a project is completedYour Qualifications:Bachelor of Science in Engineering (B.S.E.); two plus years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience3 years' experience in Industrial EngineeringPLC knowledgeAutoCadMOST Computer SkillsSpread sheetsWord processingBonus If You Have:RoboticsLear Corporation is an Equal Opportunity Employer, committed to a diverse workplace.
