Senior Software Engineer (New York City Metropolitan Area)

Senior / Staff Software Engineer | Series A Startups | NYC

Location: New York City

Experience: Senior to Staff Level

Company Stage: Seed to Series A

Opportunity: Shortlist NYC — October 26, 2026

Meet six startup founders. Unlock your next opportunity.

We're looking to connect exceptional Senior and Staff Software Engineers with some of New York's most exciting early-stage technology companies.

Through Shortlist NYC , we're bringing together a curated group of talented engineers, GTM operators and six ambitious startup founders for an exclusive introduction opportunity on October 26 in NYC.

If you're an experienced engineer who's excited by building products, solving complex technical challenges and helping shape the future of an early-stage business, we'd love to hear from you.

Who we're looking for

We're deliberately keeping this broad. You might be:

• A Senior Software Engineer looking for more ownership and impact.
• A Staff Engineer ready to help shape technical strategy.
• A Full Stack, Backend or Frontend Engineer.
• An engineer working across AI, infrastructure, data or developer tools.
• Someone already working at a startup, or looking to make the move from a larger technology company.

We're particularly interested in engineers who enjoy building, moving quickly and taking ownership.

You don't need to be actively looking for a new role. We're equally interested in meeting exceptional people who are open to the right conversation.

What's the opportunity?

• Get introduced to six founders building ambitious technology companies.
• Explore opportunities across NYC's early-stage startup ecosystem.
• Discover engineering positions that may not yet be publicly advertised.
• Build relationships with founders and hiring teams directly.
• Join the Shortlist talent network for relevant future opportunities.

How to apply

We've intentionally made the application simple.

No cover letter. No lengthy application process.

Just submit your LinkedIn profile or CV and tell us a little about what you're looking for next.

Applications are open for Shortlist NYC on October 26.

Shortlist is a curated founder-introduction and talent-network opportunity, not a guaranteed interview or an advertised vacancy at a single company. Selected applicants will be contacted with further details, and introductions will be subject to candidate and founder interest.
